Superintendent's Desk

We Did it Again!

The Prospect School District has met Adequate Yearly Progress or AYP.  As part of the federal law No Child Left Behind every school in the nation is judged on a set of criteria.  Our students are tested on their English skills, Math skills, and Graduation rate.  The good news is the staff, students, and parents of Prospect Schools have done it again.  We were able to meet in all three categories four years in a row.  This is truly something to be proud of.  If you get a chance pass the word that the Prospect Schools are doing great things.

Principal's Message

Great things are happening at Prospect.  As we open our doors this fall we will have over 200 students on campus grades K-12.  That number is a welcome site and further points to the success of our school.  We all want our students to have an opportunity to learn in a safe environment.  The word has gotten out that Prospect Charter School is the place to be.  While other schools around us are cutting programs and staff we are growing.  We are able to maintain programs and add staff to offer more for our students.  These are exciting times for Prospect, I encourage you to get involved at the school or just stop by and see what is happening.

Reading , Reading, and More Reading!

The Prospect Schools are once again going to be involved in the 25 book campaign for grades K-3 and a Million Words for grades 4-12.  We want to encourage parents to challenge your student to reach these goals.  Set a reading time each evening when the whole family reads.  Our students have shown tremendous growth in all of their academic areas.  Reading is the number one indicator of student success in school.  Please help your student to be successful by reading, reading, and more reading.

Dress Code

Parents we need your help in maintaining an appropriate dress code at school.  As you begin to purchase school clothes, please remember the following guideline.

A student's dress and grooming should not be disruptive to the educational climate or process or be unclean or a threat to health and safety of the school or any other person.  If there is a concern the teacher and/or principal shall be judges as to the suitability of classroom dress.  We consider school a place of "work" and believe dress and behavior should be in accordance.  Dress should be appropriate for the time and place.   The school staff and administration greatly appreciate your assistance regarding school dress code.  If your student is found to be in violation of the dress code policy he or she will be asked to change clothes.

Electronic Gadgets

As the information age approaches rapidly the school understands that parents want their student to be equipped with the latest technology.  However, that same technology can be very disruptive to the learning environment at school. Headphones, CD players, cell phones, pagers, and MP3 players are to be secured in your student's locker once the student arrives at school.  The school is not responsible for lost or damaged personal property.  Electronic gadgets found on a student after first bell, will be confiscated and returned to the student's parents.  Exceptions to this rule will apply when a student is traveling away from school on a school sponsored activity.  Thank you for your help.

Open House

Open house is scheduled for August 26th. We will begin the evening with a free dinner at 6pm, in the multi-purpose room. The cafeteria staff will be serving a Spaghetti Bake with a full salad bar and dessert. Dinner will be followed by a scavenger hunt, games and prizes, visits with teachers and staff.  Please join us for evening of fun.
